If you are planning to attend the National Space Society’s International Space Development Conference (ISDC), where presentations, poster sessions, and award ceremonies are held, then we highly encourage you to register for the ISDC as early as possible. We also highly recommend that you sign up for a poster presentation to expose and share your project. Sign ups for all student activities, presentations, and sessions can be found on the ISDC student webpages.
When will I know if I won?
Prize announcements will be made directly through the contest websites. They are released mid-April.
Do I receive a contest certificate?
Students receive a contest participation certificate given by the NASA Ames Space Settlement Contest directors. The contest certificate will be sent to the address you provided with your entry. Receipt of these certificates might take 3 to 4 months in delivery. Note: If you have been disqualified, you will not receive a certificate. Certificates for participating in the ISDC will be given at the ISDC. Only those participants attending the ISDC will receive a certificate of participation. ISDC participation certificates will NOT be mailed.
Do students and teachers receive ISDC participation certificate?
Yes, all students and teachers attending and participating at the International Space Development Conference will receive an ISDC participation certificate during our Award Ceremony. Only those participants attending the ISDC will receive a certificate of participation. ISDC certificates will NOT be mailed.
Where do I sign up for a personalized ISDC participation certificate?
During Student Registration. When you arrive at the ISDC, look for the Student/Teacher Registration area. There will be a designated table where all students and teachers must fill out a form with the required information they want to appear on the certificate and for our record. If the student/teachert does not register within a given time frame prior to the Awards Ceremony, he/she will have lost the opportunity to receive their certificate. No duplicate certificates will be made, no prints will be done after the Award Ceremony has ended. It is important that you enter your information correctly at registration.
When is the Award Ceremony?
The time and day of the Awards Ceremony varies from year to year depending on our ability to schedule around other amazing events at the conference. Do make the necessary arrangements to attend the whole conference dates (meaning an early arrival and late departure). The best way to find out when exactly the Awards Ceremony will be held is to visit the ISDC website and look at the conference event schedule.
When and where is the conference?
The ISDC is held in a different location every year. Visit the National Space Society home page to find out the location and dates. As a general rule, ISDCs are held in May around Memorial Day weekend.
Are there any tours available?
Yes, we do have a number of tours available. In order to register and attend a tour, feel free to contact us or review the ISDC website: As a rule, tours are usually held a day prior to when the conference begins and/or the afternoon after the conference ends. Do plan to arrive at least one day prior to the tour date, as many of the tours begin very early in the morning and you will want to be well rested for the tour.
Does the ISDC or NSS provide sponsorship for travel and housing?
No, the National Space Society nor the International Space Development Conference offer monetary travel or housing sponsorships. We do not have sufficient funding, resources or authorization to do so. We do encourage you to reach out to your community, school, local companies and government for travel assistance.
