Programming Key

  • Required NextGen Session

    Red dots with a barcode symbol are required sessions for an ISDC Certificates.

  • Poster Session

    Green dots with asterisks are optional sessions in which students get to present posters, and interact with other students and professionals

  • Lunch Break

    Students and chaperones may eat at the Union Station Hotel or travel to a local restaurant of their choosing.

  • Optional Sessions

    Optional sessions, where students can extra points to spend in point shopping.

  • Special Events

    Special Events for students, and chaperones to attend.

Thursday, May 25th, 2017

  • Orientation

    Attend orientation at either 9 a.m. OR 4 p.m.

  • Academic Processes I

    Learn the “Maxims of Meow,” the ways academics / professionals communicate and collaborate at conferences. 5 p.m.

  • Networking and Rocket Science Demo

    Student networking activities and a special, hands-on science demo TBA! 6 p.m.

  • "Spirit of Exploration and Discovery" Video Fest

    “Spirit of Exploration and Discovery” themed, college-student videos

Friday, May 26th, 2017

  • Morning Plenary

    Friday’s ISDC Keynote Speaker, TBA, 9 a.m.

  • 3D Printing & BlocksCAD

    Dr. Thornburg will introduce 3D printing activities, procedures, and labs for students. 11 a.m.

  • Lunch Break

    Students and chaperones may eat at the Union Station Hotel or travel to a local restaurant of their choosing.

  • Poster Session

    Select Space Settlement Contest students can attend their posters in the midway for networking and discussion.

  • Student Rotations

    Sub-groups of assigned students will move through various stations and activities. 2-4 p.m. Groups will rotate between Communication workshops, 3D Printing labs, and Vocation-Rotation.

    ISDC’s Saturday Keynote, 9 a.m.

  • Space Retrospective Panel

    Explore the past and progress of humankind’s Space missions. 10 a.m.

  • Space Elevators

    Dr. Pete Swan will discuss and demonstrate the marvels of modern Space Elevators! 11 a.m.

  • Lunch Break!

  • Poster Sessions

  • Student Rotations

    • Sub-groups of students will rotate through Communications, “Find Your Own Session”, and 3D Printing sessions.

      9 p.m.–Midnight: Start spending your attendance and participation points in our ‘Stores’ in the Midway Suite III. This Store will sell students trinket and souvenir items from ISDC donors, using individual students’ points as currency.

    • Point Shopping!

      8 a.m.–Noon: Spend your hard-earned points at our vendors in the Exhibit Midway.

      10 a.m.: Our optional, 2017 send-off to students for the coming school year! This is the last opportunity to get extra points!
